The goal of the Jain laboratory is to decipher molecular and genetic mechanisms conferring specificity during organogenesis and how they relate to developmental and adult diseases. Major focus is on the urogenital and nervous system. Our main hypothesis is that developmentally important genes play a role in congenital malformations, repair and regeneration of organs in adult acute and chronic diseases, and cancer.  To this end we use disease model systems and new sequencing and analysis tools to integrate basic science and clinical research.
