Nephrology Update for the PCP CME Course Announced

CKD for PCPThe Division of Nephrology is pleased to announce a CME-accredited course, “Nephrology Update for the Primary Care Provider.” The course will take place on April 2, 2016, please register here. This live activity is designed for health care professionals including physicians in training, internists, pharmacists, nephrologists, nurses, and nurse practitioners who are involved in the care of patients with kidney disease. The program is designed to enhance renal medicine knowledge, competence, performance, and improved patient care. At the conclusion, participants will be able to apply the latest clinical trial results in the management of patients with chronic kidney disease. The Course Chair is Timothy Yau, MD. Specifc learning objectives:

  • Accurately diagnose & evaluate patients with chronic kidney disease
  • Appropriately manage renal osteodystrophy, hypertension, & anemia in chronic kidney disease
  • Manage electrolyte derangements associated with chronic kidney disease
  • Discuss the mechanisms of acute kidney injury & implications for progression to chronic kidney disease
  • Discuss the various options for renal replacement therapy
  • Manage common issues that arise for primary care providers in the care of chronic kidney disease, dialysis, & kidney transplant patients
